Character: Alecsander Ryuunosuke Edwards
Description of World: In 1092 CE the first killing associated with the Assassins of the Middle East was committed. This group of well trained killers was known as the Secret Order of Hashashin. They fought against the Knights Templar during the Crusades in an attempt to force them out of the Middle East. The war between the two groups was not contained within the Holy Land however. It moved with population and political centres. Other groups of Assassins came and went and branched off from the original Order as years went by. Weapons and methods of murder improved as time went on as well. And by the year 2012, both the Knights Templar and the Assassins were well versed in their methods and their creed. In 2012 the world was projected to end, but the war between the two factions continued on, year after year after year until a century had passed.
The Assassins of 3012 need not only themselves, but a virtual team behind them. While the Assassin carries out the actual deed, the Order picks targets, supplies weapons, a cover story, and burial if the Assassin fails. Technology is both an Assassin's friend and enemy. Whatever technology you have, you must assume your target has as well. Thus keeping ahead of the tech curve is vital. Another thing vital to an Assassin is keeping off of law enforcement's radar. Staying anonymous keeps you alive, staying invisible ensures success. Failure is not common, nor is it tolerated. Leaving the Order is considered worse than failure to complete a mission and is punished with death except in extreme circumstances.
As the war between the Assassins and the Templars continues to be fought by the higher ups, the soldiers - Fida'i - carry out high profile assassinations for their respective organizations. Various branches and groups exist within the Order, each with their own hierarchy but under the main branch in Europe. Its this main branch that orders the most important jobs and approves the jobs of the lesser branches. The Order is led by the Sabbah (Grand Headmaster of the Order), who then has various levels below them: Greater Propagandists, Propagandists, Rafiqs (Companions), Lasiqs (Adherents), and Fida'i (self-sacrificing agent). In the modern world, most Assassins are trained from very early childhood within the isolation of the Order, or are born into the Order. The Order is like a family, and thus once you are initiated into training, you become part of that family.
